The Five Family system of Southern Shaolin (Wu Jia Quan or Ng Gar Kuen in Chinese) was brought to the US by the late Grandmaster Ark Y Wong in the early 1900′s. This sytem of Southern Shaolin Kung Fu is very large, comprehensive, and complete. It contains internal and external training, long arm and short arm techniques, and many weapons. These components not only give the student effective fighting techniques but also condition and train the entire body and benefit the health.
The Five Families that influenced this system are: Hung, Choy, Li, Fut, and Mok but the most famous aspect of the system is the Shaolin Five Animal Kung Fu Forms and the reason the system is also sometimes called the Five Family Five Animal System.
