Franklin was born and raised on St. Croix in the USVI. As a young child he enjoyed reading a translation of Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching which he found in his parent's library. This was his first introduction to Chinese philosophy and Taoism (which can be a religion, a philosophical approach to living in a natural manner, and a means to understand the body's inner workings, the workings of the cosmos, and the interaction and connection between the two).
From this first interest in Taoism Franklin would go on to become interested in Chinese physical practices such as Tai Chi Chuan (which is founded on the principles of Taoism). Over the years his path has led him to many different Martial Arts and Qi Gong teachers as well as several Taoist teachers.
In addition to Martial Arts and Qi Gong Franklin was taught Chinese healing techniques from several different teachers. These healing techniques included both touch and non-touch (energetic) methods. Seeing the effectiveness of both his teachers and himself he wanted to learn more. The result of this interest was a degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine after 5 years of study which included comprehensive clinical training. After graduating Franklin lived in Taiwan for a year where he had a successful Tui-Na and Energetic Healing practice where his patients ranged from teenagers to Western Medical Doctors.
At the request of his teachers Franklin has been teaching martial arts and energy practices since 1993.
